To go back to God’s Word, we see another progressive
revealing in scripture, which reveals the Father as the
Heartbeat, communicated through the idea of land. Even in our
culture when you have a piece of land it gives you “existence”
in society so to speak it gives a space to grow and have an
identity. This was why one of the big three promises to
Abraham was the Promised Land (with descendants and
worldwide blessing). But ultimately this was about a spiritual
dimension, its why in the first Eucharistic prayer the church’s
liturgy calls Abraham our Father in Faith. Scripture says he
believed God could bring something into existence that was not
and bring back from the dead- see discussion in CCC 296.
This is a true heartbeat. Each beat of our heart gives us life and
enables the body and our whole being to live. This truly images
our immortal souls- it’s only because the Father “thinks of us”
that we have spiritual immortal life. It gives you “spiritual land”

in the Trinity.
So the most important thing in existence is to have the Father
God’s attention! Then blessings flow. Even in the scripture Acts
1:1-11 (which is the Ascension Solemnity 1st reading) the
disciples ask when will the kingdom come Jesus said ”…it has
been decided by the Father’s own authority.” When the two

Note: Each of the 12 tribes of Israel got a part of the
Promised Land, it gave them identity as the first born of God.
This was to be returned to original tribal owner each Jubilee
year. We see why Naboth in scripture 1 Kings 21:1-29
absolutely refused to sell his ancestral vineyard. Also, note how
the only Tribe to not get land was the Levites, the priests,
because their land, their heartbeat, was God! Cf Ps 16:5-6
(once used in Tonsure ceremony for priests) the Lord is my
portion and cup. In the book From the Depths of Our Hearts
Benedict XVI says “The true foundation of the life of the priest
… the earth or “land” of his life, is God himself.”. [Note: in Jesus
we are all part of the royal priesthood by baptism etc.]
